The remover of obstacles, the God of new beginnings, the God of sciences, Ganesh is worshipped by almost all Hindus the world over.
Ganesh, also known as Ganesha and Ganapati is commonly portrayed with a chubby build due to his elephant form and fondness of sweets. Although, religious scriptures also tell that Ganesh took on various forms from time to time to defeat powerful demons that threatened mankind.
In fact, one of the earliest interpretations of Ganesh, a 5th-century marble sculpture found in Gardez, Afghanistan, shows a Ganesh boasting a much more muscular build than what we typically see today.
Inspired by this find, the team at Emerald Arts reimagined Lord Ganesh in all his majesty and grandeur, with a physical form to match.
Our 'Vedic Gods' series is a bold and contemporary reimagining of the most revered Hindu deities. We'll be continuing to add more Gods to this series over time.
